I was told to call back next week as they hope to have a contact for the class action lawsuit. I had trouble after the first application and Behr sent me another 4 gallon bucket and instructions on how to prep, spot treat and do a complete cover again. Well, as many probably know, when the bubbled/peeling portions are pulled up, you end up realizing how much more is not adhering to the deck. My concern is the cost I have in the paint, my labor of applying the paint, scraping the old and reapplying and now having to do it all again. I can’t imagine how much someone will charge to completely strip our deck. I think paying for composite decking/installed would be fair compensation for my time and money spent on this poorly made product.

According to the Home Depot wage lawsuit, the plaintiff regularly worked longer than eight hours by day or more than 40 hours a week without receiving overtime compensation. Under the $2.6 million Home Depot class action settlement, Ramos will receive an incentive award of $7,500 and Lopez will receive one of $2,500. Ramos said that she used to work at Home Depot as a cashier, and that during her work, the company did not provide sufficient seating for her and other employees in similar roles.

I will be looking into how to become a part of the lawsuit. Home Depot is a giant big-box chain store that sells construction and home improvement materials. The chain owns and operates more than 2,000 retail store locations.

Now I have to prepare to remove it and go with another cover, and possible replace some wood work also. I’m confuse at the moment on what I need to do. I have some issues and spent a lot of money on putting this stuff on my deck.

Where this was applied in shaded areas it stayed on but most of my deck is in the sun. The lawsuit is brought on behalf of a class of approximately 200,000 similarly-situated Home Depot retirement plan participants, and it seeks $140 million in damages. Two hundred thousand is a lot of people, but in 2017, 31.1 million Americans participated in an ERISA retirement plan. The Home Depot problem, as big as it is, may be only the tip of the iceberg.

They knew the product was caca and continued to sell it. The Home Depot website reportedly lists the price of one gallon of DeckOver at about $35, a significantly higher price than paints or stains, according to the Behr resurfacer class action lawsuit. I bought 2 gallons of this junk and it has mostly peeled off and now everything is worse. I do not have a receipt but have one gallon of it left as proof and part of the other. I have to peel it off somehow and then repair where it didnt protect my deck. Not to mention I painted my lattice with it.
My husband insisted on this product because it was advertised as the best new thing for decks and he wanted to reduce upkeep. Well he passed away and now I am stuck with more upkeep than before we used this . I also need to be added to this if possible. Moisture is getting trapped underneath and over 50% of DeckOver is peeling off and the wood is starting to rot.

I don’t feel that we should not be spending our time turning boards, power washing, etc.for a product that was to be the best thing for deck restoration. I was actually looking for information about Behr’s liquid rawhide which is also a nightmare. I would suggest that no one purchase their products. We put the liquid rawhide on our log home and it destroyed the logs and we cannot get it off to put something else on. Call Behr and am told Too bad your problem. We had a class action suit and we paid off so now you get nothing.
Definitely bad stuff, we did a 3000 square foot deck and the stuff is peeling and need to do it again. I had my deck painted as well and the same things has happened to mine, the paint has peeled and looks awful. With the hot hot weather in the South, it has peeled away from the wood. This ‘product’ is a complete fraud and a waste of time and money. I also bought eight cans of Behr DeckOver and my deck is completely a mess. Some of the paint is flaking off and there’s nothing I could do about it.the other parts are too thick for remover to work.
I had a ramp built for my powerchair and within 6 to 7 months I have to redo the surface and Refill cracks due to paint and cracks failing to cover. We redid our deck and within five months it had to be redone. We had to remove it all with belt sander and two weeks worth of scraping it was a timely and expensive project. Over 1000 sq.ft of deck rotted in 3 years under the paint.. I had brought Behr paint one year ago. Clean the pouch let dry complete Then one year later the paint is coming off .
We have extensive damage and reached out to the company, only to get more paint. I purchased the product for a huge deck. Not only did the product breakdown but it rotted several of the boards underneath the paint. I have thousands of dollars invested in replacing decking boards. I had a pergo built on top of the deck which had to be jacked up because boards rotted due to cracking of deck over and allowing water to run through and rot the boards. Two years later, even our joists are rotting from the TOP, not the exposed bottom.

Be glad to provide plenty of pictures with dates. The plaintiffs seek to represent a Class of U.S. consumers who purchased Behr DeckOver. A class action lawsuit filed this week alleges Behr DeckOver deck resurfacing products, which are sold exclusively at Home Depot stores, are defective and deteriorate within months of application. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Home Depot in a class-action suit that included 46 states concerning a data breach that occurred in 2014. A finding of the facts estimated that about 40 million Home Depot customers throughout the nation had their personal information exposed to cybercriminals in the data breach.
